St. Aidan’s is involved in the community through many initiatives, but we have formal partnerships with the United Church Campus Ministry at UVic, the Our Place shelter, and the Shelbourne Community Kitchen.

The Shelbourne Community Kitchen Project is a program bringing families and individuals together to cook, learn, grow and share food in a supportive, community setting. The project is a unique collaboration between St. Aidan’s United Church, St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Lutheran Church of the Cross, Mt. Tolmie Community Association and Camosun Community Association. St. Aidan’s was a founding partner in the Society.

Campus Ministry is an outreach ministry of the United Churches of Victoria Presbytery to students and staff at the University of Victoria. Henri Lock is the Campus Minister appointed by the Presbytery to serve the campus community. United Church programs at UVic include meditation and other contemplative practices, spirituality discussion groups and healing pathways workshops.

The Our Place Society is formally affiliated with the United Church of Canada as one the outreach ministries supported through the UCC Mission and Service Fund. That relationship is the current manifestation of the UCC’s historical role as a founding partner in Our Place (through the Metropolitan United Church’s Open Door inner city ministry), along with the Upper Room Society.
