Meet Olivia Duffin – Our NEW Kid’s Choir Leader
Olivia Duffin is originally from Vancouver but moved to Ottawa when she was 3 years old and has been singing since she could speak. It all started with a musical family. Olivia has been taking classical voice lessons for 9 years competing in many competitions such as Kiwanis Music Festival, Canadian Composers Competition and NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) in Ottawa, as well as going to Provincials in Waterloo, ON as a Kiwanis Music Festival Finalist.
Being apart of a church community has always had a special place in Olivia’s heart because she sang as the Head Chorister in the Christ Church Cathedral Girls Choir in Ottawa for 8 years and loved her experience. In addition to singing classical music Olivia has also been involved with singing musical theatre when she played the role of “Cosette” in Les Miserable and sang in the children’s chorus in two major operas that took place at the National Arts Center in Ottawa.
She is currently in her first year studying at University of Victoria in the Education program and her dream is to be either a Voice teacher or a Physical Education teacher for secondary schools. A fun fact about Olivia is that she loves to surf! Olivia is super excited about this opportunity to expand her musical knowledge and have fun with kids!
The Kid’s Choir meets on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm. All children, 4 years and up are welcome. The children will sing one Sunday a month during the service. You can reach Olivia at firstname.lastname@example.org.
