Palm Sunday Pageant comes to St. Aidan’s! To assist with our first ever Palm Sunday Pageant, we are in need of toy swords—10 of them, in fact. If you have one at home, please drop it off at the office this week, and remember to put your name on it so that we can return it to you. And, don’t forget to be at church next Sunday, so that you can be part of the action! Shalom, Your Worship Team

URGENT NEED – Syrian Refugee Crisis

The Compassionate Resource Warehouse is partnering with ICROSS Canada and Global Hope in sending two large containers which will be shipped to Lebanon and Jordan in two weeks to assist with the Syrian refugee crisis. Our Thrift Shop, along with Oak Bay, is going to do as much as we can – with your help. This is what we have been asked to donate: towels, cutlery, wooden spoons, spatulas, plastic glasses, Tupperware with lids, bowls, pots, plastic dishes and blankets. If you can help, please leave your donations at the office labelled CRISIS. Attach this label to any bags or boxes you leave at the office. If you have questions, please call Sylvia @ 250-658-2402.

Lenten Films, Justice and Next Steps The Lenten Film Series has opened our hearts and eyes to a world that is aching for ecological justice. Here are some next steps…. Write a letter to the Prime Minister calling for a moratorium on fracking; and/or sign a petition calling for tougher provincial legislation, so that water is protected for communities. Find these documents at the intersection sign, Faith &Politics, in the Great Hall, after Worship. We will look after mailing. Or, if you prefer electronic communication, go to the Council of Canadians’ petition to ban fracking and their petition to protect BC’s water at http://canadians.org/campaigns.

Anyone who has been taking on the Lenten Challenges will know, by now, that Lent does not have to be about hair shirts, widespread absence of chocolate, or gloomy reflection. It is trying, in tiny ways, to make room for the Ground of Being Itself. Keep it up – you are almost there.
Lighter of lights – illumine us. Fire of fires – thaw us. Power of powers – strengthen us. Lover of lovers – warm us. Teller of tales – encourage us. Destroyer of darkness – save us. Touchstone of truth – examine us. Summoner of stars – amaze us. Wellspring of wisdom – weather us. Water of life – refresh us. Dancer of days – delight in us. Breath of the universe – bless us.

A Good-Bye Message As I prepare this page in my final day as your office administrator, I can’t help but think about the many people I worked with every week to produce it (and the other elements of your Sunday service). I’ve learned so much from each one of you: about caring, cooperation, the vagaries and value of community, and much more. Although I don’t intend to disappear entirely, this is my opportunity to wish you all the best in your undertaking to create a new kind of church at St. Aidan’s. With appreciation, Wynne
