TODAY at St. Aidan’s Our Lenten Series on the Environment — Caring for our Common Home — begins TODAY, February 14th, with guest, Elizabeth May, MP for Saanich – Gulf Islands, and Leader of the federal Green Party. After lunch there will be a Question and Answer session with Ms. May on the Paris Climate Agreement. In keeping with the Lenten tradition of simplicity, our light, Lenten lunch will appear as a Sandwich Station. You are invited to make your own cheese and vegetable sandwich to eat while we continue our discussion with Elizabeth May in Room 2A/B after Worship.

First Met’s Climate Action Film Series – Films that take a closer look at Climate, Indigenous Rights and Right Relationships Mondays 7-9 pm. Room 200- 932 Balmoral Road. First Metropolitan United. Living in a Quantum World: How the New Science Changes Everything presented by Dr. Garth Mundle. The series will be offered as four evening sessions from 7:00 to 9:30 pm on March 6 to 9, 2016 and will be hosted by Cadboro Bay United Church, 2625 Arbutus Road. Movie Night at St. Aidan’s Saturday, February 27. We will be showing “Chocolat”. The movie came out in 2000, stars Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp, and deals with the theme of Lent. Turning the World Upside Down – Lenten Challenges: Wednesday. February 10 – Thursday, March 24

Today, after the service, pick up your flyer (which lists 40 actions) and an offering box. The simple instructions are on the flyer. Each of us, committing to one simple challenge each day (e.g. meatless day; smile at a stranger), could turn our world around. Take this Lenten practice on as an individual, as a couple or as a family. We have special challenges for kids. It’s unflunkable, spiritual and relevant. Goes through to March 24th!

After Church Coffee Volunteers Thank you so much to those ‘old hats’ and ‘newbies’ who agreed to help host our weekly after-church coffee. There is still time to sign up and there will be a sign-up sheet today on the library counter. We are especially inviting ‘newbies.’ A special note: Pat and Jean Ten Have will conduct a hosting coffee workshop NEXT SUNDAY, February 21st @ 9 am. They welcome all newbies and old hats who would like a refresher short course to join them in the GREAT HALL at that time.

BC Conference is offering an M&P 101 Workshop led by Thomas Dennett, open to all committee members, boards and anyone else who is interested.
